Camden County Accountant to Avoid – Fowler Maxwell P.C.
Spent my morning in the Camden County Magistrate Court defending bogus billing from Fowler Maxwell and accountant located in Kingsland, GA, which is a small community in Camden County Georgia. The delivered a shoddy work product that almost caused us to pay over $2000 in excessive payroll taxes to the State of Georgia.
Once we refused to pay their invoice due to them delivering bad accounting for our business they sued us in the Camden County Magistrate Court. Unfortunately I was out of town when served and was unable to file an answer in an timely fashion, but was able to defend their bogus billing. The sent a clerk from their office to handle the matter which had no idea of what was done or not done, nor had a clue about the billing.
Things that they tried to claim bogus charges for:
- Balancing a paypal account. They never sent us a reconciliation but billed us almost $500.
- Filing to be treated as a C Corp. This was never done.
- Payroll services. The delivered incorrect payroll checks and bad tax filings.
The real thing that Fowler Maxwell, PC tries to peddle to their clients is investment services and high cost mortgages through their mortgage division. The accounting part of their business is just a ruse used to drive customers to these other high profit areas of their firm. In every meeting we had with them they always tried to turn the conversation to these services versus the matter at hand.
